Consulting

Good consulting requires a combination of
science, people and systems.

Our science comes in good measure from IFP and Beicip-Franlab. The science of IFP is embedded in the OpenFlow software suite we frequently use in engagements. But science does not only originate in laboratories; it is also derived from experience. Beicip-Franlab has served more than 500 clients across the world over 55 years. The intelligence distilled from this is incorporated in our workflows.

The application of science requires good people. We exercise great care in recruitment and maintain a staffing ratio heavily weighted toward senior staff. We employ several PhDs and most others have Master degrees. But we recognize that science must be applied in a business context. Our people seek practical answers by meshing knowledge, critical and lateral thinking, testing concepts and synthesis.

Finally, there are systems to protect our clients’ data, manage service quality and delivery, develop people, etc. There are no secrets in what to do; the challenge is executing what is required while delivering results to shareholders. Our management have the training and experience to do this.

Basin Modeling & Prospect Evaluation

Basin modeling is at the core of basin evaluation processes. By integrating diverse geological, geochemical and engineering data in a consistent framework, we use TemisFlow to dynamically simulate the evolution of a sedimentary basin through geological time, assessing generation, migration, trapping and accumulation processes for comprehensive play assessment.

EOR Feasibility Studies up to Pilot Design

Feasibility Studies are the ultimate objective of most of the full field integrated studies. The integration of simulation results and surface versus sub-surface field behaviors is the success key for robust feasibility studies.

Geological, Geophysical and
Geochemical Studies

Our geological, geophysical and geochemical studies aim at better understanding, assessing and categorizing undiscovered oil and gas resources, and defining potential exploration targets. Revisiting past prospecting, exploration and interpreting compiled data with new concepts and ideas. Reinterpreting previous data, incorporating new data, applying new ideas, new tools, and new concepts form the basis of our G&G studies.

Integrated Oil & Gas Field Studies

The need for increasingly precise models (to target sweet spots, start an EOR process, etc.) requires involving many specialists: geophysicists, structural specialists, sedimentologists, petropysiasts, geomodelers, reservoir engineers, simulation experts, etc.

Modeling and Production Simulation

Our reservoir modeling is driven through the construction of structural and stratigraphic models and associated 3D grids for the whole subsurface column that honour all seismic and geologic interpretations; incorporated with the industry experience input of our experts.

Modeling of Fractured Reservoirs

Our partner Beicip-Franlab provides widely recognized expertise in fractured reservoirs management. Our methodology is based on the multidisciplinary integration of various data types and use of advanced IFP group software such as FracaFlow and PumaFlow.

Petroleum Economics

We offer advisory services in petroleum E&P economics, international legislation and contracts. Our clients include international oil companies, national oil companies, governments, regulatory agencies, financial institutions and banks. Our services can be provided at every stage of the E&P process: exploration, appraisal, development, production.

Petroleum Data Infrastructure

Petrotechnical data development and its integrated use is a core element in E&P workflows. Combining the power of geo-IT with diverse G&G applications, managing, flow and sharing of sub/surface technical data across user environments has gained enormous value.

Regional Exploration and Evaluation

A regional evaluation study aims at assessing and categorizing undiscovered oil and gas resources, and defining regional exploration targets. Revisiting past exploration and interpreting new data with new ideas. Regional evaluation is a cornerstone activity for the oil and gas industry. Reinterpreting previous data, incorporating new data, applying new ideas, new tools, and new concepts forms the basis of regional exploration.

Reserves Evaluation & Certification

We cover reserves evaluation and certification from exploration to production – assets evaluation / expert opinion.

Reservoir Simulation & Optimization Studies

A regional evaluation study aims at assessing and categorizing undiscovered oil and gas resources, and defining regional exploration targets. Revisiting past exploration and interpreting new data with new ideas. Regional evaluation is a cornerstone activity for the oil and gas industry. Reinterpreting previous data, incorporating new data, applying new ideas, new tools, and new concepts forms the basis of regional exploration.

Seismic Reservoir Characterization

Seismic data provides valuable information on geological heterogeneities between wells, and thus allows reducing geological modeling uncertainties at both basin and reservoir scale. Optimizing the use of seismic data and corresponding interpretation has become a key challenge in today’s integrated exploration and reservoir studies.

Shale, CBM & Tight Reservoirs Evaluation

More specifically, exploring, developing, and producing unconventional resources calls for specific workflows solving geological, geophysical, geomechanical and engineering issue.

Unitization Reserves & Asset Evaluation

We provide consultancy and advisory services in Reserves Evaluation, Certification, Unitization and various Expert Opinions at each stage of the E&P process (exploration, appraisal, development, production) and for diversified assets portfolios (new, mature or redeveloped fields, prospects, plays & leads).
